About Dr. Mona Gajre
Pediatric neurologist, developmental disorders specialist, professor and researcher. More than two decades of caring for children and teaching the doctors who care for them.
Her journey in child health
Dr. Mona Pradeep Gajre did her undergraduate medical training at Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College and General Hospital, Mumbai, popularly known as Sion Hospital. She went on to complete her postgraduate training at Topiwala National Medical College and B.Y.L. Nair Charitable Hospital, earning her MD in Pediatrics from the University of Mumbai.
Over more than 25 years she has built her practice around children with neurological diseases and seizure disorders, and children and adolescents with developmental and behavioral disorders. She is a full Professor at LTMMC and LTMGH and leads the care of children with pediatric neurology and developmental disorders.
Teaching and research
Dr. Gajre is a well known academician with over 50 publications in medical journals of national and international repute, along with chapters in books and periodicals. She has researched epilepsy, attention disorders, autism spectrum disorders and learning disorders in depth.
She is a sought after teacher for pediatric neurology, epilepsy and developmental disorders for MUHS affiliated fellowship trainees, postgraduate and undergraduate medical students, and students of allied health care. You can explore her research on ResearchGate.
Her approach with families
Parents often arrive worried and unsure about the process. Dr. Gajre takes time to listen, explains each test and what it means, and works with therapists, psychologists and educators to build a plan that fits the child. The aim is always early diagnosis and early treatment, because a young brain responds best when help starts early.
